Having a website is an excellent way to start building your digital footprint. It allows you to reach more consumers while it also makes your business or brand appear more credible and trustworthy.

Having a modern website is a must in today’s fast-paced world. If you have ever tried running a website on your own, you probably know the struggle of building consistent and returning visitors. It is not a simple task to generate website traffic on a consistent basis and this is one of the most common reasons why many websites fail and disappear from the Web.

What Is Tailwind?

Tailwind is a scheduling app for Pinterest and Instagram that people use to connect and engage with others from their niche, grow their networks, and discover the best time to share their content online. Needless to say, it is a handy tool that you can use to generate more website traffic from people, interested in what you have to offer.

You can use it to analyze the performance of your pins and boards, discover the peak pinning times for your Pinterest account, test and adjust your Pinterest strategy. Tailwind allows users to automatically schedule pins for days, even months, in advance by choosing the best time when people are most active. The platform is a game-changer for every Pinterest account.

How To Use Tailwind For Pinterest?

There are many ways to benefit from Tailwind and I will go through all of them in this article.

#1 Grow Your Pinterest with Tribes

One of the most exciting free features that Tailwind offers is called Tailwind Tribes. They are small communities of people, categorized by topics & niches. Tribes are there to help you grow faster and find quality content for your Pinterest boards. They are a great way to discover people with similar interests and expose your content to relevant audiences.

You can share your own pins to the Tribes, so other tribe members can repin them to their boards and share them with their audience. If a tribe member, with a decent audience size and monthly views, decides to share your pin to their board/s, you can reach thousands of people who are most likely interested in your content.

You can also use Tribes to discover great content for your boards, so you can be the one resharing pins from fellow creators. You do not have to choose one way or the other because you need both.

Most of the Tribes have a 1:1 rule that requires tribe members to share a pin from their own boards and save one pin from someone else. This is good because Pinterest values high-quality content. So, your pin gets extra exposure and you get quality content to schedule for the rest of your boards. It is a win-win situation for everyone participating.

Use Tailwind Tribes to grow your Pinterest account and drive traffic to your website.

#2 Discover Your Pinning Strategy

Creating visually appealing pins is a very time-consuming task even if you are using a template for your pins. If your goal is to grow your Pinterest account and drive more traffic to your website, you will find it impossible to count solely on producing and sharing your own content. Not to mention that if you share the same URL address over and over again in a short period of time, your account might get flagged for spamming and you might even get a ban.

So, to avoid that from happening, you need a working pinning strategy that mixes your content with other high-quality pieces. Unlike the rest of Social platforms, Pinterest is all about sharing high-quality content from other users. This shows the platform that you are invested in finding only the best material for your boards and you are willing to help other creators. This behavior shows Pinterest that you are a quality pinner and it will help you gain traction faster.

How To Find a Strategy That Works?

If you want to grow your Pinterest account, you will need to find a strategy that works best for you. I recommend sharing no more than 30% of your own pins and spend the rest 70% on repinning meaningful content. The only exception is if you are running an Ecommerce store and you have hundreds of products that you want to share and each one of them has a different URL. In that case, you can raise the percentage to 40%-50%.

How Does Tailwind Help?

You can use Tailwind to automatically schedule your own content and avoid getting banned. With Tailwind, you can queue a mix of your own pins and separate them with content from other users. You can prepare and schedule content for at least one month in advance. This allows users to plan carefully their next pins, prepare fresh content and take advantage of upcoming holidays.

Pinterest users can schedule up to 100 pins with the free plan to explore Tailwind and get familiar with the design of the platform. If 100 pins are not enough, which is inevitable if you are using Pinterest to grow your website, you can opt for the paid version plans. There are three different plans you can choose from:

  • PLUS – a basic plan for bloggers and small businesses with the ability to schedule up to 400 pins throughout the month (if you are paying on a monthly basis) or unlimited pins (if you are paying annually). This plan is what I am currently using and it is the perfect option for my blog.
  • LITE – the perfect plan for small agencies, looking for a better way to control and analyze their Pinterest strategy. The plan offers unlimited pins and full profile and board reporting.
  • PROFESSIONAL – a great option for mid-sized businesses. This plan is excellent for companies, looking to optimize their content strategy with the help of great analytic tools such as Brand Monitoring Suite and analyzing sources of ROI.

There is one more option available only for large businesses – ENTERPRISE. However, the process of joining this plan is more complicated compared to the other three.  If you want to learn more about Tailwind, click here.

#3 Test Different Visuals

Pinterest is a visual platform. That’s why it is essential to find the most appealing design for each one of your pins. Whether it is a video or a static image, it is very important to test different pins and analyze which one performs best. You can use Tailwind for this task.

With Tailwind, you can split test multiple designs for every one of your posts, schedule them and discover which one brings the most website clicks and saves. You can even go a step further and test some of these designs in your Tailwind Tribe and see which one gets the most repins. But be careful with how much content you add to the Tribes because you have limited monthly submissions and once they are gone you will have to wait for the next month or upgrade.

But that’s not all. Tailwind users can also use the app to create content for their Pinterest account. If you want to design great pins but you do not have the digital skills for it, Tailwind Create is the perfect feature for you. You can use it to create different versions of the same pin and split test your favorite designs. It is easy to use and much faster than starting from scratch.

#4 Use Tailwind for Group Boards

Similar to Tailwind Tribes, you can use Pinterest group boards to grow your account. If you are unfamiliar with group boards, they are small communities of people within the same niche focused on getting more exposure and sharing relevant content material.

Tailwind can help you schedule content directly to your group boards like it is your own. You can use the app to schedule pins for weeks in advance to your group boards with the help of their feature – Board List. It allows users to form a board list of their favorite boards and categorize them based on the type of content they share. This makes the process of adding new pins to group boards less time-consuming and much more enjoyable.

#5 Pin On a Loop

With Tailwind, you can automate your favorite pins and keep them running on a loop. The feature Smartloop allows users to create a collection of their best pins and reshare them throughout the whole year. Once you set up your Smart loop, Tailwind will find the best time to share your favorite collection of pins.

SmartLoop allows you to easily see what is being pinned on the SmartLoop calendar set limits to ensure you are not spamming or breaking group board rules. Ideally, you want to set up loops with your most popular pinning categories as well as different seasonal categories.

#6 Analyze Account Performance

Tailwind analytics can be super helpful for your Pinterest account. You can use them to see which of your pins are bringing you the best results or analyze your overall account performance. You can use Tailwind analytics for Pinterest in order to determine what works best and double it. Or the opposite – to discover which one of your pins or boards are not performing well and improve your strategy.

With Tailwind, you can view your weekly summary, track your weekly and monthly follower growth, pins and repins, as well as board performance and website traffic, coming from your pins. Last but not least, you can see how your Tribe content is performing. This will help you determine which Tribes are worth keeping.

Tailwind is a tool that has it all – great analytics, time-saving automation, and awesome ideas for more relevant content. You can use it to improve your Pinterest strategy and increase the number of viewers and generate massive website traffic. Try it yourself, and I guarantee you, once you start using Tailwind, you will not want to go back.
